SS 9 Fornelos Stage (04.03 p.m.)
Scratch for Vallejo and Hevia pressures Meira. As Neves will be decisive.
Verónica García. 48 Rallye Internacional Rías Baixas Vodafone Concello de Vigo Press.

The pilot from Lugo, Sergio Vallejo, gets the scratch in the second loop in the Fornelos SS. The Porsche 911 GT3 CUP R pilot raced the longest special stage of this rally in 18:31:4, a time that allowed him to climb three positions in the provisional general classification, positing him the first 10 places.

The second best time in this special stage was for Alberto Hevia. He finished at 31.7 seconds of Sergio Vallejo, but the most important thing was that he was able to shorten 14.9 seconds to the leader of the provisional general classification, an Alberto Meira that was more conservative than in the first loop in this special stage. He needed almost one second more to cover the 30.32 kilometres, which costs him dear. At a time when the As Neves SS is still to be raced, the pilot from Vincios is only 1.9 seconds ahead of the pilot from Asturias. The victory in this 48º Rallye Internacional Rías Baixas Vodafone Concello de Vigo is a fight between these two. The last special stage will decide who the winner is.

The third best time in this SS 9 was that of Miguel Fuster (19:11:8), a result that allows him to be in the fifth position in the general classification, very far away from the first place.

Víctor Senra achieved the fourth best time, which keeps him in the third position in the general classification at 34.9 seconds from the leader and with an advantage of 20.1 over Jonathan Pérez, with whom he is having a very nice fight for the third place in the final podium.

The Galician Rally Champion from 2011, Iván Ares, decided to stop fighting in this special stage due to the problems he had been having all morning long and that made him waste a lot of time.

Status of the Stage: The whole stage is wet, a little dryer towards the end. Clean road with people in the correct places.

Pilots Statements:

15.- Alberto Meira: "The car went fine; safe driving. We did a very good change."

8.- Alberto Hevia: "The tire was a little worn out towards the end, but we've driven really fast."

1.- Jonathan Pérez: "Good, almost until the end, with a lot of care not to risk. We ruled out the podium, we only want to keep the position."

4.- Miguel Fuster: "Now very good. We've reached Monzón, who was our target. Let's see if we can keep that."

3.- Sergio Vallejo: "I had to put new tires on. Very comfortable. We had chances to fight for the rally, but these things happen."
